College financial aid has long been one of the primary government programs for increasing access to higher education for students from low-income families. Yet, in the current economic and fiscal crisis, there is great uncertainty about how much and what kind of financial aid will be available for improving college completion rates.
The
Wisconsin Scholars Longitudinal Study
is the first-ever, statewide longitudinal study designed to estimate how financial aid impacts student success in college, including graduation and transfer to other colleges. Study co-directors Sara Goldrick-Rab and Douglas Harris will share results from the first year of the study.
